A Natural Skin Care Routine That Transformed My Skin

After struggling with persistent acne for years, I decided to completely overhaul my skincare routine and switch to 100% natural products. Instead of relying on expensive commercial cleansers filled with chemicals, I turned to simple, natural ingredients—many of which you can find in your kitchen. The results have been incredible. My skin is clearer, softer, and healthier than ever before, and I no longer suffer from the dryness and irritation caused by harsh acne treatments.

I want to share my journey with you and provide a step-by-step guide to the natural skincare routine that has completely transformed my skin.

My Journey with Acne and Skincare

Like many, I started experiencing acne in my teenage years. Over the years, I tried countless products—some of which worked temporarily, but most left my skin feeling dry and irritated. During my pregnancy, my breakouts became severe, leading to immense frustration and a loss of confidence. I spent years trying expensive skincare treatments, only to realize that the simplest and most natural solutions were the most effective.

Now in my 30s, I not only want to keep my skin clear but also address early signs of aging. However, spending large amounts on anti-aging products was never an option for me. This led me to discover natural, affordable ingredients that work harmoniously to cleanse, heal, and protect my skin.

Why Natural Skincare?

Switching to a natural skincare routine has given me amazing results:

  • Fewer Breakouts: My skin stays clear with very few acne flare-ups.
  • Hydrated & Balanced Skin: No more excessive dryness or irritation from harsh cleansers.
  • Smoother Skin Texture: Makeup applies beautifully on my skin now.
  • Reduced Scarring & Wrinkles: My acne scars are fading, and fine lines are less noticeable.

Step-by-Step Natural Skincare Routine

Cleansers

Traditional cleansers often strip away the skin’s natural oils, leading to imbalances. I’ve embraced the oil cleansing method, which uses beneficial oils to dissolve dirt and bacteria naturally. Here’s what I use:

  • Hemp Seed Oil + Lavender
    • Hemp seed oil is anti-inflammatory and works well for acne-prone skin. It hydrates without clogging pores and improves skin elasticity.
    • I mix 1 ounce of hemp seed oil with 10-12 drops of lavender essential oil and store it in an amber glass dropper bottle. Lavender adds antibacterial and healing properties.
    • I use this mixture as my evening cleanser before bed.
  • Coconut Oil
    • Coconut oil is excellent for makeup removal. It dissolves waterproof mascara and heavy makeup effortlessly.
    • I use a small amount to break down my makeup before following up with my hemp seed oil cleanser.
  • Raw Manuka Honey
    • In the morning, I cleanse my face with raw Manuka honey. It’s antibacterial, hydrating, and gentle.
    • This is a great light cleanser for starting the day.

How to Use Cleansers:

  1. Massage a quarter-sized amount onto dry skin (damp if using honey) for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Wet a washcloth with warm water and place it over your face to open your pores.
  3. Gently wipe away the cleanser and pat your skin dry.

Masks (Once a Week)

I use natural masks to deeply cleanse and rejuvenate my skin. These two options work wonders:

  • Dead Sea Mud Mask with French Green Clay
    • Absorbs excess oil, exfoliates dead skin, and tightens pores.
  • Bentonite Clay Mask
    • Deep cleans pores and reduces acne. I mix it with apple cider vinegar for extra benefits.
    • This mask is intense, so I only use it at night.

Toners

Toners help balance the skin and prepare it for moisture. I use two options depending on the time of day:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar (Night)
    • Antiseptic, antibacterial, and great for acne. It also helps fade scars.
    • I mix one part ACV with one part distilled water and apply with a cotton pad.
  • Lavender Witch Hazel (Morning)
    • A gentler toner that soothes and preps skin for makeup.
    • Helps reduce redness and irritation.

Moisturizer

Keeping skin hydrated is key, even for oily skin! I use:

  • Jojoba Oil + Lavender
    • Jojoba oil mimics the skin’s natural oils, helping to balance oil production.
    • I mix 1 ounce of jojoba oil with 10-12 drops of lavender essential oil.
    • I apply 4-6 drops morning and night by massaging it into my skin.

Bonus: In winter, I add a drop of coconut oil for extra hydration.

Additional Tips for Customization

Everyone’s skin is unique! Here are alternative oils based on your skin type:

For Dry/Aging Skin:

  • Use argan oil, almond oil, or apricot oil as a cleanser and moisturizer.
  • Try essential oils like lemon, frankincense, or sandalwood for anti-aging benefits.
  • Use a rose face mist as a toner for extra hydration.
